As part of Jordan’s first round of renewable energy auctions, the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources approved a total of 12 solar power plants. One of which was developed and built by Al Ward Al Joury for Energy Generation PSC with a capacity of10 MW. The solar Photovoltaic plant is located in Ma’an Development Area, 218 km to the south of Amman.
Kingdom for Energy Investments Company acquired 30% of Al Ward Al Joury. The solar Photovoltaic plant will be connected to a newly built substation. The generated electricity will be sold to the National Electric Power Company (NEPCO) under a 20-year Power Purchase Agreement (PPA).
KEC believes investing in solar Photovoltaic companies and projects helps Jordan diversify its energy resources. This contributed to achieving the national target to have 10% of energy by 2020 produced from renewable energy.
