Electricity Distribution Company (EDCO)
EDCO

Serving a concession area that has steadily grown to cover over 55% of the Kingdom’s geographical area since the company’s inception in 1998, EDCO has been consistently showing exponential growth in its market share and distribution capacity to position itself as Jordan’s foremost electricity distribution company.

Founded by the Government of Jordan in accordance with the Jordanian Companies Law no. (22) of 1997 as a public shareholding company, EDCO became a private shareholding company in 2007 when Kingdom Electricity for Energy Investments Company (KEC) acquired 100% of the Government’s shares in the company. Since its privatization, EDCO has significantly increased its efforts to augment and support the national electricity distribution grid, covering a concession area that includes the Karak, Tafileh, Maan, and Aqaba governorates in the southern province of Jordan, the Jordan Valley, and the entire eastern region of the Kingdom extending to the Iraqi borders.

Under KEC’s guidance, EDCO took over the ownership of KEC’s 55.4% share in Irbid District Electricity Company (IDECO) in 2009 and is currently cultivating its human resources and honing its capabilities in order to positively contribute to the establishment of comprehensive electricity coverage for the entire Kingdom according to the highest international standards.
