Who We Are

A leading holding company focused on investing in and elevating Jordan’s various economic sectors with a current focus on the energy and utilities sector, Kingdom Electricity for Energy Investments Company (KEC) owns controlling stakes in two of the Kingdom’s three electricity distribution companies, managing 35% of Jordan’s electric power distribution across 80% of the country’s area in the north, east and south of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan.

Established in 2007, KEC’s shareholders include industry giants: Daman for Energy Investments Company (DEIC) the investment arm of the Social Security Corporation in the energy sector and Privatization Holding Company (PHC).

Founded for the purpose of acquiring and managing Electricity Distribution Company (EDCO) and Irbid District Electricity Company (IDECO), KEC acquired the Government’s 100% stake in EDCO and its 55.4% stake in IDECO subsequent to a competitive bidding process that same year. Since then, KEC has successfully led the transition of EDCO and IDECO into thriving, commercially oriented, private companies and substantially enhanced their operating performance to better support the national energy infrastructure and cater to Jordan’s growing energy market demands.

With a vision of becoming the first company in the region to reinvent the business model of electricity distribution companies, KEC seeks to expand its investment portfolio by cultivating emergent and untapped investment opportunities that not only yield consistent returns to its shareholders, but also bolster the Kingdom’s economy and add value to its stakeholders.
